LOL! We all were over at my mom's yesterday morning. My brother just lives around the corner and his dog is as much at home at my parents place as it is at my brother's place. When I stepped out the back door, this is what I saw!! LOL! Molly trying to stay cool and just waiting for some one to come out and play with her. It is so hot and humid and she looked so sad. I'm sure she is going to miss my dad too.

Some of my mom's flowers.

And, back home again. Another zinnia. And as I was sitting on the back porch making one of my many phone calls, Mrs. Hummer stopped by for a snack.

The Swallowtails are enjoying the zinnia's!!!

Here is a link to my dad's obit. An abbreviated version with a few mis-spellings. But you get the idea. http://www.legacy.com/ToledoBlade/Obituaries.asp?Page=Lifestory&PersonId=18709732

I trust in Your unfailing love; My heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me. Ps. 13:5-6

My dad passed away yesterday morning about 11:15.
I know that he is with Jesus in heaven.
I want to thank every one who have been praying for us. God is good!

I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Ps. 16:8

It has been rainy and stormy and cloudy here for the last 2 days. So far this morning, things aren't looking much different! Besides, I have been busy with my parents. I just haven't been out much the last couple of days. So here are just a few pictures from the first of the week!

Here's a couple hats that I finished up the other day.

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Ps. 19:1

We have tomatoe worms!!! I am so excited! When they grow up, they become the most amazing Hummingbird Moths! I grew tomatoe plants this year just for them to eat!!

My wonderful daughter made this bracelet for me! Isn't it just 'me'?!!

Knitted hats.

He reached down from on high and too hold of me; He drew me out of deep waters. He brought me out into a spacious place, He rescued me because He delighted in me. Ps. 18:16 & 19

Black SwallowTail Butterfly on a Coneflower! Isn't he beautiful??!!

Hats worked on the loom.

Last night's sunset.

No sin is worse than the sin of self-pity, because it removes God from the throne of our lives, replacing Him with our own self-interests.

More knitted hats from waiting room visits.
Another fun cloud day yesterday!
Early morning Shasta Daisy. ( I got to stay home over the weekend! A much needed break)
Our zuccini are doing wonderful! Our only garden produce that is doing anything at all! I got some shredded up and put in the freezer yesterday for on top of pizza's this winter! Yummm!
White Balloon Flower

May God not find complaints in us anymore, but spiritual vitality- a readiness to face anything He brings our way. The only proper goal of life is that we manifest the Son of God.

We have new kittens!

Baby hats worked on the blue KK loom.

We had some really cool looking clouds yesterday!

A little visitor this morning!

Those who know Your name will trust in You, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Ps. 9:10

Oh what a week! I have so totally missed my computer time! The situation with my dad changes daily and it has been an emotional week. I did get out for a quick look around the flower beds the other day. Here is some of what I found!

Even my knitting has been on hold the last few days. Here are a couple hats that I finished up the middle of the week, but just couldn't sneak in the time to get the picture posted.

Is my life exhibiting the essence of the sweetness of the Son of God, or just the basic irritation of 'myself' that I would have apart from Him?

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Went for a walk with my daughter yesterday morning. It was hot but it was nice to get out for a bit. We just went over to the RR tracks and did our normal 2 mile loop.

Was out working in the garden for a couple hours this morning. Our first hibiscus bloomed today!

Let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For surely, O Lord, You bess the righteous; You surrond them with your favor as with a shield. Ps. 5:11-12

I started this green hat on Friday morning while taking my dad to his radiation treatment. When the phone call came that my dad was on his way to the ER, I immediately got 2 hats on the needles in antisipation of a long evening. The pink one is the one I worked on while 'following' the helicopter on the way back to Toledo and while in the ER at MCO. One of these days I will get started on cables again! But I would like things to slow down first!! LOL!

A katydid hiding from the hot sun under a milkweed leaf.

Our first Tiger Lily bloom of the season.

Our hummingbird moths have returned!!

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. Ps. 1:1-2

A bug on our back porch yesterday morning.

We had some storms roll through the area yesterday afternoon. Amazing clouds!

After the rain, I had to go check out what was going on! Lots of rain! Big puddles!

Then I got a call. My brother and my mom were taking my dad to the ER.
He was then transported by LifeFlight to another hospital.

More waiting room hats. In fact, yesterday morning while at his radiation treatment, I had some extra time because they were running late so I decided to add some stripes!

My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.
2 Cor. 12:9

More waiting room knitting.
These hats are sitting in the shade of my Giant Pumkin plant. The plant is beautiful and doing quite well. No pumpkins yet! Maybe I will have something by the time it snows!!
My only white cone flower. Most all of my white cone flowers have now gone back to thier original pink.

My daily dose of little critters!!

If you will remain true to God, God will lead you directly through every barrier and right into the inner chamber of knowledge of Himself.

Here are a couple of hats done on the loom that I finished up the other day.

Even though it was rainging last evening, I needed to get out for a breath of air. The sun is suppose to be back out tomorrow!

Faith is not some weak and pitiful emotion, but is strong and vigorous confidence built on the fact that God is holy love. And even though you can not see Him right now and can not understand what He is doing, you know HIM.

Another cable knitted hat. And another waiting room knitted hat.

My posts this week will be quite irregular and on the fly. My dad is not doing well and we have decided that we need to be the ones taking him to his treatments. Please continue to keep him and the family in your prayers. Thank you.

The real meaning of eternal life is a life that can face anything it has to face without wavering. If we will take this view, life will become one great romance-a glorious opportunity of seeing wonderful things all the time. God is disciplining us to get us into this central place of power.

Yesterday was a wonderful day! I played in my scrap yarn pile most all day!!
And this is what I did with it!

If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will not stand at all.

Well, yesterday morning, I spent several hours making myself a hat. I just wanted to experiement! Was feeling adventurous!
Here is my first 'real' attempt at felting! I am very pleased.
I crocheted the hat using 2 strands of 100% wool. Put it in the washer with a couple of bath towels, let it agitate for several minutes, took it out, played with it, repeat. Until it got to the size I wanted. Then I stretched it out over an upside down bowl and set it in the sun to dry.

This little guy followed me into the shed yesterday!

Went to a car show yesterday. It was great to get out for a bit.

Knitted hats. More cables!! And another 'waiting room' hat. But if you look close, you can see where I just did st st knitting until I got home, then, around the top, I had to play around with a few small cables!!

God wants you to be in a much closer relationship with Himself than simply recieving His gifts- He wants you to get to know Him. There is nothing easier than getting into the right relationship with God, unless it is not God you seek, but only what He can give you.

OMG!!! I have been trying for a day and a half to get these pictures on here! And it was probably something really stupid on my part!! LOLOL!! Oh well!

First, the GREAT news: My daughter and her boyfriend are officailly engaged!! See the beautiful ring he gave her on July 1st. She is so happy! Of course, I am too! They have been together for nearly 2 1/2 yrs. He is my son's bestfriend, so he's been around for awhile and we all like him! And his family loves her!

Look what my kids brought me from thier holiday weekend camping trip!! (do I have them trained right, or what??!!) These are Puddingstones. From the area around Gaylord, MI.

Thursday, late afternoon the farmer beside us and the farmer behind us got started taking out the wheat. Summer harvest has begun!

Hats worked on the KK looms.
Chickory. One of my most favorite blue flowers. I keep trying to grow my own, but when they are small, they look so much like a dandylion, that I keep pulling them out!! Every year. I have got to stop pulling 'weeds'!!

Update on my dad: Please continue to remember him and my mom in your prayers. My dad is not doing so well. His breathing has gotten considerably worse in a very short time. He is now on oxyen and started radiation therapy. We are hopeful that the radiation will help with his breathing.

Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. 2 Cor. 1:3

Sunflower and Hollyhocks greeting the morning sunshine!!

Check out this little ladybug. She caught my eye. She is the same color as the flower. She was the pinkest pink ladybug I have ever seen!!

Knitted hats. I am really enjoying trying out all these new stitch patterns. However, they don't all come out perfect! For instance, the white one came out huge! But I love the pattern! I will be doing it again, trying a different color and not doing so many repeats. I love the green one except that I messed up about 8 rows right in the middle! But if I don't tell anyone, it does kind of look like I meant to do it!! I mean, it's not totally yukky!!

I played in the gardens all day yesterday. But didn't take any pictures. Here are just a couple from this morning. I just needed to get out with my morning coffee and see how things were going!!

If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land. Is. 1:19

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Our little woodchuck buddy was back again last night. Hadn't seen him for about a week.

This little guy was taking a nap!

Hats worked on the green KK loom.

If we make our own inability a stumbling block or an excuse not to be obedient, it means that we are telling God that there is something which He has not yet taken into account. Every elemet of our own self-reliance must be put to death by the power of God. The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon Him will be the very moment that the Spirit of God will exhibit His power. (O. Chambers)

I just step outside the last couple of days and the ground is just 'hopping' with these little fellows! I'm afraid to take a step! I don't want to squash them. But, boy can they move quick! And they are everywhere!!

This is day 4 of off and on rain. It was much needed. But I am getting just a little tired of it! I'm ready to get outside and play in the gardens again!! Oh well, at least I am getting lots of hat work done!!

Bugs of some kind on the Butterfly Weed.

Whenever our Lord talked about discipleship, He always perfaced His words with an "if", never with the forceful or dogmatic statement- "you must". Discipleship carries with it an optition.

Now is the time of year when I take ALOT of pictures!! And there is no way that I can download them all to my blog! But I can save them and share them in the dead of winter when I can't find too much to photograph!
We have Monarch's!! Oh what a fun and blessed sight this little guy is!! The milkweed flowers smell amazing, but it is ok if this fellow wants to eat them all!!

Ok, so I am on a cable kick right now! I love the way they look. And now that I know how to do them, it is so much fun to try all the different varieties!!! Yep, got another one on the needles now!! And am looking for more!!

All of these bright and cheerful flowers greeted me first thing this morning.

And then I found this much needed verse:

The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zeph. 3:17

LOL! I have decided that my hat pictures are just way tooooo boring! I am excited about my hats, but when I take a picture and post it, they just look...well, not cool! I make these hats on the loom all the time. But they needed a little excitement! This pink one was worked on the red KK loom, the tan/blue one was worked on the green KK loom. Both done with the chunky braid stitch.
I am going to try to get a bit more creative with my picture taking!

More flowers! A new lily bloomed yesterday. And the zinnias are just getting started! They are one of my favorite, so there will be LOTS more pictures of them!!

The first Balloon flowers popped open. We have these tall, white ones. And I also have some short, blue ones.

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Saturday, July 01, 2006

I was able to 'sneak' out for a few mintues yesterday morning. Took a quick look around at our flowers. Things are just changing everyday!!

Then, another long afternoon in waiting rooms.
Which did produce another hat!!

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. John15:12
