Au Sable River, MI

Still just a bit of color out in the gardens!

The blue sweater is finished.
Well, except for the buttons!

I do not judge him.
For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it."

I tell you the truth, unless a kernal of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

I have got my daughter so well trained!!
Her and her MIL went to check out the 'new' Goodwill store in town.
Look what she found for me!! All this yarn only cost me $3.00!!

Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for He guards the lives of His faithful ones
and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Update on the Irish Hiking Scarf.
I have to say that this yarn is just SO fabulous!!
So soft and drapes perfectly for this pattern!
I am in love!
I want to wear this scarf on Sunday. But at the same time, I don't ever want to be done with it!! I love this pattern and this yarn!

Persimmon
My uncle gave this to me. He got it from a cousin. He seems to think that if anyone can get the seed to grow, it will me! I'm not so sure. A good friend of mine gave me a few seeds a couple of years ago and I couldn't get them to do anything. But, of course, I will happily try again!

My wonderful Hubby took this picture of the full moon last night!

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die."

Here is where I am at with the baby items.
I finished the knitting on the blue pants last night and got started on the blue sweater. I also have the first few rounds done on the pink blanket.
But then, just as we were going to bed last night, Hubby started saying something to me about why haven't I started my scarf? By the time I get around to do doing it, it will the dead of winter and I bought fall colors to make it with.
So I got up this morning thinking he is right. These babies won't be here until after Thanksgiving and we are going away on Sunday and I would really like to wear my Irish Hiking Scarf.

So I got started!! I wound up the yarn with my first coffee and got started!
I am so excited! I LOVE this yarn!
Ok, I'm off to knit! All housework will be put on hold!!

When you come to your wits' end and feel inclined to panic-don't!!

A sneak peak at the sweater!!
I still need to add buttons, but the knitting is done!
I am quite happy with it. I am SO glad I ripped it out and tried again!

A praying manits having lunch!

The saint who satisfies the heart of Jesus will make other saints strong and mature for God. But the people used to strengthen us are never those who sympathize with us; in fact, we are hindered by those who give us their sympathy, because sympathy only serves to weaken us.

Last week was such a ‘rough’ week of knitting. Last night I spent some time at the frog pond. What a liberating experience! I feel SO much better!!
Let me explain. I finally decided on a simple top-down raglan cardigan sweater for these babies. I got started. All was going well. Then I came to the sleeves. I was 4 stitches off. I don’t know why. But I thought, ’it’s ok, I can fudge it when I get finished with the body. So I spent ALL day yesterday knitting the body of this sweater. Always looking at those armholes and thinking, ’wow, that looks bad, hope I can fix it’. Well, I finished the body and went to pick up the stitches for the sleeves, worked about 2 rows and decided, ’there is NO way this is going to work’. Rip it, rip it, rip it. It is now way past my bedtime, but I re-counted, re-knitted and now am happily on my way! I spent all day yesterday so frustrated with this sweater. I get up this morning so happy and excited about it now and eager to get going. At first I was heart broken at the thought of a totally wasted knitting day. I haven’t had too many of those lately and I wanted it so badly! But I am so happy with this sweater now!! What do they say, ’all’s well that ends well’! BTW, it was a typo in the pattern that caused the problem! Not my knitting!

And, yes, I did spend some time on the bike getting rid of some frustration!

"Neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared.
"Go now and leave your life of sin."
John 8:11

Oh, how I'd like to be here again today!

Ok, so I just put aside the whole baby sweater thing for awhile.
My brain was totally not into it for some strange reason. I don't know what the problem was. Couldn't find a pattern I was happy with, just couldn't seem to get it together.
So I re-directed my thinking for awhile and got busy on some pants.
Here is a sneak peak of the first of the baby items!

I am totally amazed at how many Monarchs are still hanging around here!!
Normally, by this time of year, they are long gone!
I'm not complaining!! I LOVE having them still here!!

Then He (Jesus) said to him,
"Rise and go; you faith has made you well."

A small flower on the beach at the New Presque Isle Lighthouse along Lake Huron.

Late blooming flowers in my own backyard.

Lake Huron

The last of my 40 caterpillars have cocooned.
Now we just wait for spring!

I had to till up the veggie garden.
I saved this guy from the tiller.
But I killed at least one. Maybe more.
So sad.

Live and learn.
What a mess!!
Really, it is an adorable little wrap style baby sweater pattern. But it just never really 'clicked' with me. Then, for whatever reason, the sleeves didn't work out right. Stitch count, row count, and length just weren't coming together correctly. Then I got in a hurry to just be done with it, and I set the first sleeve in inside out!!
For now, it will just sit in a corner and pout! Maybe in a few months I will get it out again. Don't know what I will do with it yet.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Aunt Katie stopped by the other day!
She brought me all this wonderful baby yarn!
She has asked me to make baby sweaters for the twins.
And anything else I'd like to make! Obviously I just couldn't wait to get started!!

Little critters from the yard.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
love and faithfulness go before You.

I knitted matching hats for Hubby & I!
This is the yarn I used:

This is one of the balls that I bought last week while we were up north.
Didn't it make just the neatest color pattern work??!!
The very wonderful lady at the yarn shop happened to be using this same yarn, only in a different color. When I got to the counter to pay for it, she went to the back room and brought out her own knitting to show me what the color pattern would look like! She was making a top-down sweater with it. It was fabulous!! I thought it was great that she was using the exact same yarn that Hubby had picked out, and then I thought it was so great that she took the time to show us her work!

More colors from MI.

Teach me Your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth;
give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.

THANK YOU, DORIS!!
Look at all this beautiful yarn that was brought to me yesterday!
This will make soooo many bright, beautiful hats, mittens, scarfs, sweaters and afghans!
I will definitely have enough to keep my fingers busy for awhile!!

Grasshoppers are everywhere!!

I will listen to what God the Lord will say;
He promises peace to His people, His saints-
but let them not return to folly.

Think about your own circumstances. Are you so closely identified with the Lord's life that you are simply a child of God, continually talking to Him and realizing that everything comes from His hands: The life of our your Lord is to become your vital, simple life, and the way He worked and lived among people while here on earth must be the way He works and lives in you.

Fall color in MI

The Old Presque Isle Lighthouse.

Loomed hats.
It does feel good to get back on the bike!

We are not here to prove that God answers prayer,
but to be living trophies of God's grace.

We are home.
It was a much needed restful, peaceful, relaxing few days.
This is my 'water fix'! To me, there is nothing in the world as soul soothing as wide open spaces. Being able to see forever. Where the sky reaches the water.

I also got a 'yarn fix'!
We went to a real yarn shop!!
What a wonderful experience!! The people were just so incrediably friendly and wonderful! And all the yarn was so beautiful!
I came home with some locally grown, spun and dyed wool which is telling me it wants to be a scarf for me with perhaps a pattern from Modular Knits. And this self patterning ball of yarn will be a hat for Hubby and a hat for me.

Here is what I worked on while on the road and in the evenings in the motel rooms.
My plan was to finish the green baby blanket. But due to lack of planning ahead, I ran out of yarn! (I have the yarn, I just didn't take it all with me!) But I did finish this green hat and start another baby blanket. This one is will be a long-term project. My 'take-along' project.

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.

I will be away for a few days!

I was just playing around this afternoon.
Ended up with this hat!

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make His face shine upon us,

that Your ways may be know on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.
Ps. 67:1-2

I got bored with my current projects,
so I knitted a hat yesterday and played around with some color.

Another pair of children's mittens.
And I have just learned that the local DVS will take clothes!
I am excited because this will give me an excuse to try out some new stitches and at the same time be able to fill a need. How much more perfect could it be?!

And on a personal note, I am officially 'at that age'!! I need reading glasses.
Ok, to be honest, I've probably needed them for some time but am just now getting around to it! I wonder why it took me so long? They REALLY make knitting in the evenings SO much more comfortable!
Of course, new glasses means new case and in order to keep track of them, they need a strap to keep them around my neck!

To Him be honor and might forever. Amen.

Hubby and I made a quick trip over to the river yesterday afternoon.
Found a few wonderfully beautiful flowers and fungi!

A couple of scarves.
One with Bernat Boa with Lamb's Pride Worsted.
One with Bernat Eyelash with acrylic.

Godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.
But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Here are 13 Black Swallowtail Butterfly caterpillars.
After taking this picture, I went out to the garden and found more! I now have 30!
Here's my thinking: I keep finding these little critters in our patch of dill in the middle of the flower beds. I know that as soon as they are big, they will drop off and crawl away to find a place to make a cocoon and winter over. But as soon as it frosts, we will be running the mower through the entire flower bed, so chances are they will be killed. So I am bringing them in. I will let them cocoon in the box, then take the box out to the barn. In the spring I will set it outside and open the lid and as they hatch they can fly away!

Here is one of them that I found yesterday. He had just finished shedding.

I was given an generous donation of beautiful yarn yesterday!
THANK YOU, NONA!!!
