I spent the entire day yesterday playing with some cables.
LOL! Ok, I'm still laughing at my HUGE 'oops'! So I guess I will confess. After spending about 5 hrs just on mittens, I realized I had two right handed mittens!!! LOLOL!!! So I had to go back and make a leftie!
But, at the end of the day, here is what I had! (oh, yeah, and an extra righty!)

We got just a bit of snow yesterday. This morning the cardinal showed up! I am so excited! I haven't seen him in months!

If I do my duty, not for duty's sake but because I believe God is engineering my circumstances, then at the very point of my obedience all the magnificent grace of God is mine through the glorious atonement by the Cross of Christ.

Another hat and mitten set.

Butterfly on a mallow this past summer.

Many are the plans in a man's heart,
but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.

Knitted slippers using cotton yarn.

Our Blue Jay showed up this morning for breakfast! It was good to see him again.

Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family.

My geranium is in full bloom in the house right now. And probably will be until I take it back outside for the summer.

My parents had planted 3 of these in their garden. A year and a half ago in the fall, my dad dug them each up and put them in pots to take in the house. There was a red one, a pink one and a white one. When he brought them in, he cut them all back and forgot to mark which one was what color. So when he asked if I wanted one, I had no idea what color I was getting. I'm awful glad I got the white one! To be honest, it was in the largest pot and they didn't want it sitting around their place! Last summer I set it out on the back deck and pretty much forgot about it. Too much other stuff going on. This fall when I brought it in, I gave it just a bit of TLC and here it is in all it's glory!! It stinks and makes a mess on the floor, but I sure do enjoy this plant!

A man's wisdom gives him patience,
it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
Prov. 19:11

Knitted child's mittens.

The last of the baby hats for a while. Only because I was told that the hospital has enough on hand for the next month or so. That's ok with me. I have plenty of other things to keep me busy!!

This week, well ok, most all the time!, this is my favorite past time: eating and knitting!!!! LOL!

For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Col. 1: 13-14

These are knitted hats that I made yesterday. Of course, I only have about a dozen other things to do! But that bag of small bits of yarn was just sitting there yelling at me!! LOLOL!!

So then when I got up this morning, I decided that I am going to have to make an effort to work on my sweater every single day. I did well over the weekend. Worked on it for several hours. But if I don't stick with it, it will never get done. Not because I don't love it, but because I keep thinking I should be working on something else!
So, I have given it a name and am posting it here to help keep me motivated. It is now going to be called the One Hour Wonder Sweater!! I will work on it for at least one full hour every day, and it will be a wonderful wonder when I get it done!!! And every so often I will post pictures so that anyone who might be interested can see my progress and if I am sticking to my plan!

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who see You.
Ps. 9:9-10

A child's knitted mitten and hat set.

'My space'!

I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

One knitted hat and one loomed hat.

We bought a 50# bag of red potatoes while we were in MI in Oct. The few that we have left are beginning to sprout. So I put one in some water! Hubby seems to think that I should be putting the sprouted end up. I thought the sprouted end went down. You are free to let me know which is which!

Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Another pair of slippers.

One of my mantis. I sure miss them! Can't wait for spring!

We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy.

More hats worked on the loom.

My daughter got a new digital camera for Christmas. Of course she immediately called and asked me to make her a case for it! (do I have her well trained, or what??!!!)

"You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss." James 4:3
If you ask for things from life instead of from God, "you ask amiss"; that is, you ask out of your desire for self-fulfillment. The more you fulfill yourself the less you will seek God. Have you ever sought God with your whole heart, or have you simply given Him a feeble cry after some emotionally painful experience. It is a humbling experience to knock at God's door-you have to knock with the crucified thief. "...to him who knocks it will be opened" Luke 11:10)

Hats worked on the KK looms.

Red Clover.

When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work - this is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.
Ecc. 5:19-20

I did it! Another pair of mittens! I really am having alot of fun with these!

I was asked to post a picture of my sweater. Not much to look at, but here it is. This is the completed back. From this picture, it is really hard to see, but there are 5 sets of cables running up and down it. It seems to have gotten put on the back burner again. For some reason, since I spent so much time on the gift knitting, I just kind of feel like I should be playing catch up with my charity knitting. But I'm thinking that in the next couple of weeks I will pick up again and not put it down until it is finished!

...by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy life- not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace.
2 Tim. 1:8-9

We got up this morning to a dusting of snow on the ground! This is January! We should be talking about waking up to inches or feet of snow!! But I'm not complaining!!

More baby hats ready to go!

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thes. 5:16-18

I'm needing some bright, beautiful color today! I am so excited! Our 'holiday socializing' is officially over! It has been a long 2 months! Time to relax and get back to 'normal'! (whatever that may be!)

Baby hats for the newborns at the local hospital.

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

This little fellow was trying to stretch out for some sunshine yesterday. But the cats kept checking him out so he crawled off to find a quieter space!

More hats!

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

More hats that I finished last week.
Yesterday I was busy with other things. I did not knit one single stitch all day! I think that must be a 'first'! I felt really strange when I went to bed last night! Knit withdraws, I'm sure! Will NOT be having that problem today!

A train crossing just as we were walking back from the post office the other day.

An evil man is snared by his own sin,
but a righteous one can sing and be glad.

LOL! I am so happy! LOOK what else I did!! I learned to knit mittens!! Another one of those things that really scared me! But I did it. And just look what happened! I will be making more of these in different sizes and colors for charity too!!

My new needles!!
I am so excited to show off my 3 new pair of #8 knitting needles!
Hubby helped me cut 2 dowel rods and sharpen them, then I glued some tacks on for stoppers.
Of course, I have 2 sets of them already full!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have recieved from God.
2 Cor. 1:3-4

Here is another one of those things I've been wanting to do. Slippers. (Thanks, Rikki, for sharing this pattern!!) I am finding that I can do more than just hats and I am having so much fun! I'm already planning other color combos and sizes for these slippers for charity!

This little fellow was hanging out on our welcome mat at the back door yesterday afternoon!

His pleasure in not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of man; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love. Ps. 147:10-11

As I was working on the gift knitting, I kept thinking about all the other projects I wanted to do. Here is one of them. Knit a scarf using some of my 'scraps' of yarn. These are yarn lengths that are too short for an entire hat, but too long for more than a couple rows of stripes. I would really like to make a few more of these. Partly because I have more 'scrap' yarn, but mostly because I think they are so awesome! Lots of color and texture. A random mix of anything and everything all coming together beautifully! Kind of like life.

Here are couple of my Monarch catepillars from the summer. I am really missing my little critters!!

I am also missing my flowers!! Here is a Hollyhock from late summer.

Therefore, as God's chosen people holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
Col. 3:12

A gorgous, beautiful sunrise this morning! After two days of clouds and rain, this is truly a welcome site!! Look-no clouds and no wind!!

Kind of chilly this morning. Frost everywhere!

Hats done on the KK loom.

The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

More knitted hats. I met my own personal goal for 2006! I knitted 400 hats! No, that does not include the newborn hats for the hospital or any of the hats I did for family and friends. I am considering not setting such a high goal for 2007 simply because I may want to make more larger items such as sweaters, slippers, afghans, ect. But then, a year ago I had no idea what was in store for me for 2006. Only God knows what is planned for 2007! But that's ok. As long as He is providing the yarn, I will keep knitting!

For those of you who have been asking about my gift knitting, here are the sweaters! Yes, everything fit perfectly and seemed to be well received and enjoyed! (sorry, no picture of the son in his pants yet!) But here are us girls in our sweaters. I honestly had no intentions of making them all the same color combo! I made my sweater (the one in the middle) last winter. My daughter (on the left) had already asked for this color of blue varigated yarn, and my mom (on the right) just likes blue!! But it all worked out perfectly!!

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Eph. 2: 6-7

We have been having some beautiful sunshine and blue sky for a few days. Hubby and I went for a nice long walk the other day. Wish it were spring! Today is cold and rainy.

More hats!

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
