LOL! I am so happy! LOOK what else I did!! I learned to knit mittens!! Another one of those things that really scared me! But I did it. And just look what happened! I will be making more of these in different sizes and colors for charity too!!

My new needles!!
I am so excited to show off my 3 new pair of #8 knitting needles!
Hubby helped me cut 2 dowel rods and sharpen them, then I glued some tacks on for stoppers.
Of course, I have 2 sets of them already full!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have recieved from God.

Here is another one of those things I've been wanting to do. Slippers. (Thanks, Rikki, for sharing this pattern!!) I am finding that I can do more than just hats and I am having so much fun! I'm already planning other color combos and sizes for these slippers for charity!

This little fellow was hanging out on our welcome mat at the back door yesterday afternoon!

As I was working on the gift knitting, I kept thinking about all the other projects I wanted to do. Here is one of them. Knit a scarf using some of my 'scraps' of yarn. These are yarn lengths that are too short for an entire hat, but too long for more than a couple rows of stripes. I would really like to make a few more of these. Partly because I have more 'scrap' yarn, but mostly because I think they are so awesome! Lots of color and texture. A random mix of anything and everything all coming together beautifully! Kind of like life.

Here are couple of my Monarch catepillars from the summer. I am really missing my little critters!!

I am also missing my flowers!! Here is a Hollyhock from late summer.

Therefore, as God's chosen people holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

A gorgous, beautiful sunrise this morning! After two days of clouds and rain, this is truly a welcome site!! Look-no clouds and no wind!!

Kind of chilly this morning. Frost everywhere!

More knitted hats. I met my own personal goal for 2006! I knitted 400 hats! No, that does not include the newborn hats for the hospital or any of the hats I did for family and friends. I am considering not setting such a high goal for 2007 simply because I may want to make more larger items such as sweaters, slippers, afghans, ect. But then, a year ago I had no idea what was in store for me for 2006. Only God knows what is planned for 2007! But that's ok. As long as He is providing the yarn, I will keep knitting!

For those of you who have been asking about my gift knitting, here are the sweaters! Yes, everything fit perfectly and seemed to be well received and enjoyed! (sorry, no picture of the son in his pants yet!) But here are us girls in our sweaters. I honestly had no intentions of making them all the same color combo! I made my sweater (the one in the middle) last winter. My daughter (on the left) had already asked for this color of blue varigated yarn, and my mom (on the right) just likes blue!! But it all worked out perfectly!!

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Eph. 2: 6-7

We have been having some beautiful sunshine and blue sky for a few days. Hubby and I went for a nice long walk the other day. Wish it were spring! Today is cold and rainy.

More hats!

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Ok, Now I am really doing a HAPPY DANCE!!
I can post again. Complete with pictures!!!

After all the Christmas gift knitting, I am back to hats. Every year I make my own personal goal of how many I would like to get done in that year. Every year it is a few more than the previous year. I am sooo close to hitting my goal of this year. With my dad's illness and death, I really didn't think I'd even come close.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Prov. 31:30
Oh my!! I am still holding my breath. Afraid to get too excited. It has been over a week since I've been able to get into my blog. It has been soooooo frustrating. I'm almost afraid to think that maybe this might really work!!
Ok, if this really up and working again, I will be back with pictures!!

I did it!! I'm done!!

I have finished my Christmas gift knitting! And I think it is safe to post the pictures! We will be having Christmas with my kids on Saturday and neither of them have a computer. I'm hoping word of mouth won't travel that fast!
I am so pleased with these! I hope the kids enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them for them!

Look at this cool looking fungus I found yesterday!

Here is Christmas gift I recieved last week from my SIL and her husband! A yarn organizer bag! It is awesome! I couldn't get a picture posted sooner because as soon as I got home with it, I filled it with the yarn I was working with at the time, which happened to be for gift knitting! I am nearly finished with the gift knitting and now have filled it with yarn for hats, which are patiently waiting for me to come back to!

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

giving & receiving

The wonderful Christmas gift we received from my stepdaughter and her family. She is always so great at getting us gifts we would never think to get ourselves, and yet are so fun!

More hats on thier way to warm someone's head and heart!

I do want to send and extra HUGE THANK YOU and (((HUGS))) to all of the people who have donated yarn to my hat project! You all are responsible for making the hat project possible! If I didn't have yarn, I couldn't knit it!!
In the last couple of days I have recieved a phone call and a note saying Thanks for hats. I couldn't do it without the generous support of all of you! So please consider the THANK YOU'S extended to YOU!

Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life.

I finally get to post some Christmas gift knitting!
Here is the placemat set that I made for my step-daughter and her family. There are 6 placemats knitted in a basketweave pattern, one hotpad, and 2 crocheted potholders.
They have just recently finished a massive, beautiful kitchen/dining room re-model project and her dad thought they needed a set of placemats. He even picked out the yarn!
They seemed to be very happy with them! She even let us use them for supper last night! And they fit thier table perfectly!

I got our Christmas tree up yesterday!
Thought I would share a couple of my favorite ornaments. Both were given to me from families of children that I babysat for many years ago.

My Christmas Cactus is blooming! The flowers are HUGE! And, oh so bright and beautiful! This is a start from my Grandma's Christmas Cactus. The original plant has been around longer than I have! My Honey bought the funny face flower pot for me a few years ago!!

Another yarn donation! THANK YOU, Nona!

And these bright, cheerful hats are on thier way to the school!

I finished another Christmas gift! (3 down, 1 to go!!)
I can share this one now. It is a cardigan for my mom.

I am still debating on whether I should put buttons on it or not.
But I did go through my daughter's button collection and find some that would look fabulous if I decide to put them on!! (really, I just wanted an excuse to go through her buttons!!)

I am still having computer problems. And right now I don't want to take the time to mess with it. I'm still working on Christmas gifts. So today I can only post one picture. I have more! I just don't know how to get it to show up here!!

But here are a couple more hats!
